I am Chris Selier
My EDC adventure started in 2015.
But actually the Eindhoven adventure started earlier. When my daughter started training with PSV Schoonspringen, I drove back and forth between Berkel en Rodenrijs and Eindhoven every Monday. At that time I got to know the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swimming stadium. I can still remember the first time I walked in there. Wow! What a difference from the pool in Zoetermeer where I had been drinking with the parents of the divers every Sunday afternoon during the training of WVZ Zoetermeer. A very pleasant weekly outing. There I also got to know our current tournament director Christine and her husband Teun.
Subtly the training of my daughter in Eindhoven expanded. So at a certain moment my focus was completely on Eindhoven and I got to know more and more people there. Some have become very good friends..
And then the Eindhoven Diving Cup came into the picture.
I started to volunteer for this event. I assisted the Public Relations Manager with keeping track of Facebook and Twitter. At the time, I could already see the great benefits of promoting the event on social media.
Now, I am working closely with the Public Relations Manager and the Web Manager on social media activities and presenting the EDC on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn. Every year it is a challenge to come up with or try something new, such as the vlogs and the blue room. For the future I am thinking of expanding more social media.
The team gives me energy. All enthusiastic team members with their own task and expertise. A family feeling, task responsibility, sociability and enthusiasm for diving. We all want to make it a fantastic event again. Fancy it! Eindhoven, next to my current home town Woerden, is now familiar territory.
