Toernooidag 3 Eindhoven Diving Cup: opnieuw veel knappe prestaties
Ook op de derde toernooidag bleek opnieuw hoe lastig het is om alle bijzondere momenten van de Eindhoven Diving Cup te benoemen…. Er werden weer veel knappe prestaties geleverd én persoonlijke records aangescherpt, wat zorgde voor veel sportieve hoogtepunten en spanning in het Pieter van den Hoogenband Zwemstadion.
Een opvallende prestatie kwam van Maria Łukaszewicz uit het Poolse nationale schoonspringteam. Zij nam op het onderdeel dames platform overtuigend de eerste plaats in, met een voorsprong van maar liefst 35 punten op de concurrentie.
Daarnaast werd vandaag de hoogste score van het toernooi tot nu toe toegekend. Ivan Alexandrov liet een indrukwekkende 2,5 contra-gehurkt zien van de 10-meter toren en ontving daarvoor een 9,5 van één van de juryleden, een score die zelden wordt uitgedeeld. Het zorgt voor extra spanning richting de slotdag: gaan we morgen misschien zelfs een 10 zien?
Naast sportieve prestaties stond dag 3 ook in het teken van waardering en verbondenheid. Er werd een gezamenlijke teamfoto gemaakt met officials en organisatie, op nadrukkelijk verzoek van de voorzitter van de technische schoonspringcommissie van European Aquatics, die haar grote waardering uitsprak voor de organisatie en de sfeer van de Eindhoven Diving Cup. Een bijzonder moment dat het internationale respect voor het toernooi mooi onderstreepte.
Ook waren er vandaag opnieuw bekende gezichten aanwezig. Na het bezoek van Celine van Duijn eerder deze week, werd vandaag Uschi Freitag gespot op de tribune. De voormalig Olympisch schoonspringster (Rio 2016) draagt de Eindhoven Diving Cup nog altijd een warm hart toe.
En natuurlijk was de sfeer weer fantastisch… de nieuwe toernooi-dj Julian (Kicklash) droeg ook vandaag weer bij aan de energie in het stadion, met muziek op precies de juiste momenten, op de badvloer én op de tribunes.
Met al deze sportieve hoogtepunten, de waardering die werd uitgesproken en een groot vrijwilligersteam, bouwde toernooidag 3 verder aan een memorabele 26e editie van de Eindhoven Diving Cup. Morgen volgt de slotdag van het toernooi, met onder meer synchro- en platformsprongen en natuurlijk het team-event.
Eindhoven Diving Cup, Day 3: Another day of impressive performances!
As on previous days, it proved difficult to highlight all the special moments of the Eindhoven Diving Cup on the third day of the tournament. Many personal records were broken, resulting in numerous sporting highlights and excitement in the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swimming Stadium.
Maria Łukaszewicz of the Polish national diving team delivered a remarkable performance. She convincingly took first place in the women’s platform event, finishing 35 points ahead of her nearest competitor.
Additionally, the highest score of the tournament so far was awarded today. Ivan Alexandrov performed an impressive 2.5 reverse dive from the 10-metre tower, receiving a 9.5 from one of the judges: a rare feat. This adds extra excitement to the final day… will we see a perfect 10 tomorrow?
As well as sporting achievements, day three was also marked by appreciation and solidarity. A joint team photo was taken with officials and organisers at the express request of the chair of the European Aquatics technical diving committee, who expressed her great appreciation for the organisation and atmosphere of the Eindhoven Diving Cup. This special moment beautifully underscored the international respect for the tournament.
Some familiar faces were present again today, too. Following Celine van Duijn’s visit earlier this week, Uschi Freitag was spotted in the stands today. The former Olympic diver (Rio 2016) clearly still has a soft spot for the Eindhoven Diving Cup.
The atmosphere was fantastic again, of course, and the new tournament DJ, Julian (Kicklash), contributed to the energy in the stadium with music at exactly the right moments, both on the pool floor and in the stands.
With all these sporting highlights and the appreciation expressed, not to mention a large team of volunteers, day three of the tournament was another memorable one.
