The EDC organisation is grateful for all the help and support from its stakeholders and sponsors. For this reason, a VIP meeting is always organised on the second tournament day of the Eindhoven Diving Cup.
The VIP meeting is always well attended by sponsors, representatives of the municipality of Eindhoven, the KNZB, former organisers of the Eindhoven Diving Cup and former TeamNL divers. Also present were Saskia Lammers, alderwoman for welfare, work, poverty, culture and design, and Maes van Lanschot, alderman for finance, sport, heritage and regional cooperation.
Vinca Communicatie’s communications consultant Vincie van Gils gave an inspiring presentation during the VIP meeting on how pro-social behaviour can help both volunteers – the Eindhoven Diving Cup is organised and run entirely by volunteers – organisations and companies to be successful. She explained that, according to Adam Grant, three types of people can be identified: ‘takers’, ‘matchers’ and ‘givers’. ‘Takers’ are mostly seeking their own interests, ‘matchers’ reciprocity, whereas ‘givers’ focus on contributing to others. ‘Givers’ prioritise contributing value to others, not claiming value from others. Research shows that ‘givers’ are the most successful.
All attendees received a goody bag, which included an explanation of diving as well as a set of inspiration cards to encourage pro-social behaviour. Traditionally, the VIP meeting concludes in the stand next to the pool: over a snack and a drink, the discussion continues while watching a diving final featuring top international divers.
